Perfect weather, gorgeous beaches, sexy people, and a laid back atmosphere, this is why South Beach Miami is a year round hot spot. You can spend your afternoons on the beach and your evenings in the nightclubs. I can’t say that I’ve ever seen so many gorgeous people in one city. Everybody is tanned, toned, and sexy. Whether you’re here for Spring Break, Ultra Music Festival, or just a relaxing vacation, Miami is one of those “must visit” cities! But getting around can get pretty costly. Taxi fares to and from the clubs, beaches, restaurants, and hotels will add up quickly. Luckily, one awesome company in South Beach has created a way to save you some cash getting around. This was the most useful thing I came across in South Beach and I highly recommend you check it out!
DecoBike
It’s a bike sharing program that let’s you rent a bicycle for up to 4 hours at a time. This is unlike those typical bike rentals that you’ll find at most beaches though, and you don’t have to return the bike to a certain station by a designated time. DecoBike is more like the RedBox of bicycles. You simply rent a bike at one station and return the bike at a different station down the road.
The DecoBike system is easy to use and there are plenty of stations located throughout South Beach and Miami Beach. Most of the hotels and hostels in the area have bike stations conveniently located nearby. They also have an app to help you find the nearest docking stations. The bikes will allow you to get around South Beach very easily, or you can even ride as far north as the Bay Harbor Islands if your little legs desire.
I’d recommend getting the one-month visitor pass for $35 which gives you unlimited 60 minutes rides for a month! Even if you only plan to spend a few days in Miami, you will get your money’s with the month pass rather than paying per ride. The pass can be purchased and picked up at the DecoBike store, which is right in the heart of South Beach at 723 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach, FL, 33139.
The bikes allow you to visit some of the top South Beach destinations without having to worry about parking your rental car or taking a cab. Some of the places you might want to check out while riding around are the Bass Museum of Art, Ocean Drive, South Pointe Park, Miami Ink Tattoo Parlor, and Lincoln Street! You’ll find plenty of places to grab lunch or drinks around these areas. If you’re on a budget like I was, you can even ride your bike to a station near the nightclubs and simply take a cab back to your room after if you get too drunk.
Be sure to ride safe and enjoy your time in sexy South Beach Miami!
